Put In: NC 42 bridge crossing in Clayton. Take Out: Smithfield Commons Boat Ramp Description: This is a mostly flat water section interspersed with a few Class I-ish riffles at lower water. Usually abundant wildlife and good scenery. And to quote from Maia Dery's "Adventure Guide to the Triangle" - "When you're ready to get off the River, you'll find downtown Smithfield quite a pleasure to explore. And don't forget the town is famous for the Ava Gardner Museum (www.avagardner.org)!
