Changing Pie Options

You can change the appearance of pie charts with the Pie tab of the Properties dialog box. To open the Properties dialog box, right-click on the chart and select Graph Properties.

Segment Labels
You can display any combination of name, data, and percent labels in your pie charts.

Name
displays the value of the midpoint that is associated with each slice.
Data
displays the value of the chart statistic.
Percent
displays the percentage of the full pie that is represented by each slice.

You can choose None, Inside, Outside, or Arrow for each of the labels.

None
turns off the display of labels.
Inside
displays each label inside the pie slice which it represents.
Outside
displays each label next to the pie slice which it represents.
Arrow
displays the labels outside the pie and connects each label to its pie slice with a line.

You can change the font for the labels by selecting Font to open the Font dialog box. All labels are displayed in the same font.

Group labels
This option is available only when the chart shows separate pies. You can specify Separate pies by choosing Data Options from the pop-up menu.
Use the Show labels option to toggle display of the group labels. You can change the font for the labels by selecting Font to open the Font dialog box. All labels are displayed in the same font.

Outline
To turn off the outlines around the pie slices, deselect Show outline. If outlines are displayed, you can change the thickness by clicking the arrow to the right of the Thickness field to open a drop-down box of outline sizes and selecting a different thickness. You can change the color of the outlines by clicking on the Color selection button to open the Color dialog box.

Donut style
Select Donut style to change a pie chart to a donut chart.
