Note that I try to keep this info up-to-date, but be sure to check the web links, and also check with these parks & locations to be 100% sure (I could be wrong, and sometimes their rules change...)
Info from froghollowoutdoors.com ... Length of Trip: 5 to 7 hours depending upon water levels and paddling speed. Stopping for lunch will lengthen the time for this trip. Put In: Poole Road access just east of Raleigh. River-right, upstream side of bridge. Take Out: NC 42 bridge crossing in Clayton Description: This is a mostly flat water section interspersed with numerous little Class I-ish riffles and a couple of more significant Class I ledges. Usually abundant wildlife and good scenery. This trip does pass by a Raleigh Waste Water treatment discharge point. Because of the ongoing efforts of the Neuse River Foundation and the Neuse River Keepers, Raleigh's wastewater treatment process is much better than it was a handful of years ago. Despite the discharge point, this is a very nice section of river.
