It's difficult to annotate things like the 'winter' colored area 
at the exact desired spot between bars, therefore I'm using a 
gplot with wide 'needle' interpolation (that looks like bars)
instead of a gchart bar chart. This way I can easily specify
any date on the continuous axis for the start and end points of
the annotated 'winter' colored area.
