Similar to boys.htm, this example uses the annotated
border/frame with rounded corners.
I suppress all the horizontal axis tickmark labels, and then use annotate
to label *just* the bars I want to (0, 18, 34, and 65).
And, I annotate the label '2003' above a certain group of bars-of-interest.
I use "label=(angle=90)" in the axis statement to rotate the label of the
left axis.
I use 'subgroup' to color the bars, and I put 2 different values in that
variable so that my bars are 2 different colors.
Bonus Points! -- While creating my sas version, I noticed that the original chart
was not labeled correctly. I sent the correction to the magazine (American
Demographics), and they studied it and agreed with my correction, and they
printed the correction in their September 2004 magazine :)
