This is my slightly modified version of tech support's example:

Gchart assigns colors to the subgroups in alphabetical order,
and when the data you're plotting doesn't have all the values
then the colors can get assigned to different values in different
graphs.

This is a slightly complex/convoluted technique that keeps 
the same colors with the same subgroup values.

In this case, I make the colors match the icecream flavors.
(chocolate=brown, strawberry=pink, and vanilla=light-yellow)
